Bye-Bye

Rhylan's favorite word is bye-bye. She says it over and over and over again! And the rest of these are just fun pictures.

Silly Rhylan

Well it has been a while since I posted just cute pictures of Rhylan so here are a few. Rhylan has this hooded towel that she loves. She loves to open it up and then wrap it tightly around herself. Or just wear the hood part! She is so funny lately.

Our Pumpkin!

Well for FHE we decided to carve our pumpkin. Rhylan was excited to start. She was right in the action until...
Riley opened it up!

Something about the guts was scary to her, or maybe just gross.
She eventually was willing to participate when she had a spoon but this was a rare photo!
Once she got a hold of the knife it was a different story.
We even let her draw her idea for our pumpkin design...We went with our idea instead.

Little did we know, Rhylan is afraid of pumpkins and not Jack-o-lanterns!

I took the challenge

So for Rhylan's age she should eat 2-3 servings of Veggies a day. She east a grand total of 0 serving a day. I can't get her to touch much more than bread, chicken nuggets, and goldfish crackers. I have been looking online for ideas and picking my friends brains. Several people have mentioned this book:
So I checked it out from the library and wanted to try it out. For you who are unfamiliar with this book, it is a recipe book. The recipes have vegetable and fruit purees hidden in the food!

Here are some of the veggies I pureed and froze to use in the recipes. (sweet potato and Butternut squash)

Here was the real test. This grilled cheese sandwich has sweet potato puree in it..........and she loves it!

This delicious applesauce muffin also has oats and butternut squash, and it passed my toughest critic! Even Riley said "these are so good, can I have another one?" I still have a bunch of recipes I am excited to try! If this keeps working for our family I might have to ask for a food processor for Christmas. Try it out, check it out from your library!

Her own spot

I have this little coffee table that matches my living room but didn't fit too well in the middle of the room. So, I put it against a wall and of course if collected clutter. But, a couple of days ago I turned it into Rhylan's little craft table. She has really been interested in coloring, paper, and other crafty things. So I bought her a puppy coloring book, a puppy journal/note pad, some stickers, foam shapes, and constructions paper and put them all in the drawer of this little coffee table. We also picked up this chair at salvation army for her to have a place to sit on the porch but it fits well for this too!

Chips and Salsa

Well there is more evidence that she takes after me. Rhylan has started eating chips and salsa this last week. She likes to dip the chip and suck off the salsa a couple of times before she eats the chip. She must be savoring our (Knight) family tradition. We could eat chips and salsa with every meal.

The Frog Prince

We went to go check the mail after dark and found a couple friends. These frogs love the mail box hut. We saw 3 or 4 frogs hoping around. Rhylan loved watching them but was a little afraid to get to close...so was I.

Baby and ME

Rhylan wants her baby doll to do what she can do. Today I found her rocking in the chair with a baby sitting right beside her. Then later at lunch, Rhylan put the baby in her very own seat to have lunch with us. That used to be my seat...

Canadian Thanksgiving... and Halloween fun!

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving (and Columbus day). If you didn't already know, Riley is Canadian. We aren't celebrating much, Riley is in school and I don't know how to make a turkey dinner, maybe we could have turkey sandwiches.

Today I decided to get out all my fall decorations for the season...I had 4 paper pumpkins you tape to a window... And that is it.

I really thought I had more but I guess they were thrown out during our move. So I remembered when we were little my mom always helped us make our own decorations for the house. Rhylan and I tried this. It was a great success. I cut out these little black bats and found these Halloween stickers and some bug stickers.

BEFORE

Here you can see she is really concentrating on this project.
Sometimes she got frustrated because the stickers stuck to her fingers not the paper. I descover that this little coffee table is perfect height for her to do things like this.
AFTER!!!
I hung them from our light in the dinning area. She really likes to look at them. She is even trying to say Bat!

Helping Mom

Today Rhylan helped me make some brownies. I got out the step stool and she stood right up to the counter and helped stir and make a mess! She really liked licking the spoon.

She even helped clean up herself and the counter, what a BIG GIRL!

One year from now...

This month my Uncle Bill is leaving for Iraq. He will be there for the one full year. That is really hard to believe. He has a wife and three little kids at home and they will be a long way from him for too long.

I don't think many of us understand the sacrifices our service men and women and their families make. It really starts to hit home once your family is affected. I know I still don't have a clue, but having a family member getting ready to leave has made me think and pray.

We just wanted their family to know that we love them and are here to support them. We are so proud to have Bill in our family. I just want Uncle Bill to know that we are fasting and praying for his safety, for the safety of his family at home, and for all of their happiness in this hard year to come. We love you and we are thankful for what you do. We will miss you while you are gone.

Home Sweet Home

So I have just moved to Mississippi, this seems the story of my life since I left home. I move all the time. I was really sick of my home being so temporary. I decided that I needed to make this my home and be happy. Living on a student loan budget doesn't leave much room for extras so I decided to decorate the old fashioned way---make it yourself! These pictures are mostly for my family to see my projects but you can also enjoy these cheap decorating ideas. (feel free us use any of my ideas...most of them I got from someone else anyway!)

Here is a curtain in my bedroom make from a twin sheet!

These boxes are old shoe boxes covered in paper. And I also made that cute photo holder. (you might have to zoom in to see that)

I got those old frames from a thrift store and spray painted them black. Then I used stencils to paint the letters on the glass.

These are wood art in Rhylan's bathroom.
These are curtains I made for the living room with a twin sheet!
Here is my dinning table center piece. That vase is really a bathroom cup!
Here are some wood art for Rhylans's bedroom.
Here is a coat hanger for Rhylans room.
