hot hike

Behind our complex we have a hill that has a little trail. One morning we decided to venture out and check it out. We saw some cactus, more cactus, and other spiky bushes. At the top was a pretty view and a nice breeze. We had fun hiking, even if it got really warm and the kids were too tired to walk home.

Scorpion hunting

Riley and Murray were scorpion hunting in the Pratt’s backyard. They found one but they also found this gecko!!! So of course it was instantly our new pet. Rhylan named it leopard, because it looks a lot like the leopard geckos they sell at the pet store.

Muscle Man

The weather has still been SO HOT. The high today is 105*. We have a pool at our apartment complex and have gone a few times. Gracin seemed jealous that Rhylan could float around the pool wherever she wanted and he had to hang out with me. (She has a swimming vest and arm floaties.) So I got him this thing. I think they are so funny looking but hey it works. Once we put him in it we were cracking up. Look at his muscles!! Oh and that cute little bum:) he loved being independent in the pool. The next day he kept bringing me this suit and saying “pool!!”

Ballet

Yesterday was the first day of ballet class for Rhylan. She has been so excited and asking every day if today is the day!! I think she looked so beautiful in her outfit. Thank goodness for dress up clothes, all she needed was the shoes. I had to sit outside the building, and peek in through the windows. She was a good listener, obeyed the teacher, tried to do every new move and loved every second. There was a part at the end of class when they got scarves and got to dance to the music. From the outside it looked like that was her favorite part, a smile was ear to ear! But when she came out she said she loved everything, but her favorite part was the ballet skips!

Labor Day camping, the kiddos

Labor Day camping.  Every year since I was little my family has gone camping on Labor Day.  Most of the time it was a family reunion and sometimes it was just us.  We always looked forward to it.  It has been years, 4 or more, since I have lived close enough to go.  I was so happy I finally lived close this year so we could go.  It was the first time camping with the kids!  My sister Tiffany and her family were able to come down from Provo too!!

It was so nice to escape the record breaking heat we had been having (112*) and relax in 60-70*.  It even rained a time or two and cooled everything down.

Rhylan and Gracin really got dirty.  They pretty much played in the dirt all day.  Rhylan made gardens, horse stables, fairy houses, and dirt castles.  Gracin tasted it, fell in it, threw it in Rhylan’s hair, and plowed it with trucks.  They were also happy to play with their cousin Jude, and of course endless attention from mom, dad, grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles.  They observed wildlife like cows and squirrels and caught a frog!

I asked Rhylan what her favorite part was, she said sleeping in her sleeping bag!  Her least favorite part was being stung by a bee!!  After the first day we started noticing an increase in bees around our camp.  We are pretty sure we were camping near a beehive.  I think only 2 or 3 people left without a sting.  Yes those stings hurt but on the bright side, we didn’t see one mosquito, bear, or wolf!

Gracin is trying to examine Jude's eyes.

These pics are just of the kids, I have more from the rest of the group coming later… they are taking FOREVER to download.
